NBC Roundup: Cole's late score lifts Northwood over Archbold in thriller

Austin Cole scored on a 5-yard run with 1:51 remaining to cap an eight-play, 60-yard drive and give Northwood a 48-44 win over visiting Rossford.

The comeback foiled the efforts of Rossford quarterback Kyle Kromenacker, who carried the ball 33 times for 198 yards and three scores. He was 28-of-45 passing for 385 yards and three touchdowns.

Anthony Williams led the Rangers (2-1) on the ground with 153 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Jay Moten had 105 yards on 16 carries and completed 6 of 9 passing for 129 yards, including touchdown strikes to Demond Marks and Josh Hannum.

Drew Bertz of Rossford (0-3) had six catches for 147 yards, including a 68-yard score in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 41.

Archbold 23, Lake 14

ARCHBOLD — The Blue Streaks held off the Flyers in the fourth quarter to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Archbold quarterback Brandon Taylor completed 10 of 18 passes for 129 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and running back Noah Gomez added 81 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Lake’s Dawson Delventhal threw a 34-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to Harry Jackson to cut the lead to 20-14, but Archbold added Elijah Zimmerman’s third field goal later in the quarter to preserve the win.

Genoa 34, Perkins 12

GENOA — Jacob Plantz threw for three touchdowns, ran for two more, and led the Comets to a home victory.

Plantz began the scoring with touchdown runs of 29 and 7 yards. He also threw touchdowns covering 57 and 12 to Daniel Novotney and 50 yards to Andrew Bench.

Plantz completed 8 of 15 passes for 194 yards, with Novotney finishing with three catches for 93 yards.

Perkins scored on two 21-yard touchdown passes — first Blake Smith to Dylan Nason, then Christopher Campbell to Da’Quise Clinton.

Fostoria 49, Cardinal Stritch 19

FOSTORIA — Maalik Tucker had 386 yards and five touchdowns on 19 carries as Fostoria raced by the Cardinals.

Tucker’s scores came on runs of 68, 77, 6, 36, and 49 yards.

Jaydn Miller carried the ball 19 times for 139 yards and two TDs (7 yards and 5 yards).

For the Cardinals, Thomas Foust completed 11 passes on 19 attempts for 143 yards and TDs to Alec Cummings (48 yards) and Paul Latz (16 yards).
