After the snowstorm and subzero temperatures that hit the area at the start of the week, it was a perfect remedy for cabin fever. St. John’s Jesuit and host Central Catholic staged a compelling boys basketball battle before a sold-out and energized crowd of 2,400 on Friday night at the Sullivan Center, and the visitors survived a spirited comeback bid from the Fighting Irish to take a 62-59 victory in overtime. Perrysburg girls get win at Southview

Perrysburg appeared lethargic for the first half of its Northern Lakes League girls basketball game Friday night against visiting Southview. Perhaps the time off due to the recent storm had the Yellow Jackets struggling as the Cougars led 14-9 at the break. But Perrysburg (11-1, 9-0 NLL) made a turnaround in the second half to escape with a 31-28 victory.
