To the editor: Don’t make a rush to judgment

3/2/2018

Please, let us not rush to judgement in the case of Officer Dan Wagner (Feb.26, “Toledo police union president arrested on domestic violence charge”).

VIDEO: Daniel Wagner brought into court

Has The Blade investigated his past history as a police officer? Is there a history here? While I don’t know Mr. Wagner personally, I do realize that teenagers can be a handful and sometimes need a parent to set them on the straight and narrow. Too many families allow the teenagers to do whatever they please. Sometimes they need to stand their ground and parent.

Has anyone considered that Mr. Wagner cared enough of his son that he was willing to subject himself to negative public display and arrest? I hope The Blade investigates this story further and allows Mr. Wagner’s story to be told in full, good or bad.

Back up bold allegations

In a Feb. 25 letter titled “’Support for the Second Amendment’ is a smoke screen,” the writer stated “no gun, no violence.” The writer then goes on to say some nasty things about the NRA without showing any proof, making baseless claims that the organization exploits the Second Amendment and colludes with gun manufacturers. He makes it sound as if the Second Amendment should be ignored or repealed.

The writer sounds like a person who leans toward the liberal side of politics, which is his choice. I simply do not buy into his unsubstianted statements.
