Amanda Bacon, 25, of 504 W. Alexis Rd., was ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $1 million bond. She was also arraigned Tuesday on charges of felonious assault and child endangering; those charges were dismissed.

Police allege that Ms. Bacon threw her son, Avery Glynn Bacon, against a hard surface sometime on Sunday or early Monday and then waited before taking him for medical treatment.

The boy was taken to Mercy St. Anne Hospital, then transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was then taken by Life Flight to Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan where he died Monday at 6 p.m., according to court documents.

The baby suffered multiple skull fractures and brain damage from the assault, police have said.
