Heroes Summer Youth Camp

York said she was particularly excited for the staged structure fire the students will be able to help fight at the conclusion of the camp.

"I think it's really cool because it lets kids have experiences they wouldn't (usually)," Rachael Cornell, 11, of Oregon, right, said. Cornell, who was joking with another attendee of this year's Heroes Summer Youth Camp, crafted safety bracelets Tuesday morning at the Center for Emergency Preparedness at Owens Community College in Perrysburg. Cornell said she has attended the camp three times and noticed an increases in other campers each time. The program is designed to give students between the ages of eight and 17 hands on training with first responders in medical, law enforcement and fire safety. For her part, Cornell said she was most excited to meet the any of the responders who work with animals.
