FREMONT — Two people were killed in a duplex fire on May Street early Saturday, authorities said.

The victims of the fire at 520 May, reported about 4:10 a.m., had not been identified as of Saturday afternoon, according to city police.

“Upon arrival it was found to be a working structure fire. The fire department discovered two bodies inside the burned unit,” police said in a written statement.

Authorities in Fremont released no further details.

The bodies were taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies are to be performed Monday, said Dr. Maneesha Pandey, a Lucas County deputy coroner.
