Construction moves forward on a 23-bed geriatric psychiatric hospital located on King Road near Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania Township. Owned by Assurance Health System of Indianapolis, a senior inpatient psychiatric-care system, the hospital is one-story structure of about 13,000 square feet and similar to a 23-bed hospital the company built in Hudson, Ohio, last year. The $5 million facility is a short-term acute care, crisis-situation hospital for patients 65 and older who stay 12 to 14 days before transitioning to other treatment centers. An Assurance spokesman said it is expected to open sometime between June and August of 2018.
