BGSU loses to Pitt 30-27 in bowl game

DETROIT -- The Bowling Green State University football team suffered a 30-27 loss to Pittsburgh in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field today.

Pitt's Chris Blewitt kicked a 39-yard field goal with 1:17 left to give the Panthers (7-6) the victory.

The Panthers had taken a 27-20 lead on a five-yard TD run by Chad Voytik with 9:31 to play, before the Falcons tied the game on a 15-yard scoring strike by Matt Johnson to Ryan Burbrink with 4:42 to play.

The Falcons finish with a 10-4 record.

THIRD QUARTER

DETROIT -- The Bowling Green State University football team is tied with Pittsburgh 20-20 after three quarters in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field.

The Falcons BooBoo Gates tied the game when he returned the opening kickoff of the second half 94 yards for a touchdown. Tyler Tate then kicked a 46-yard field goal with 9:52 left in the period.

Pittsburgh tied the game when Chris Blewitt kicked a 28-yard field goal with 5:59 left in the quarter.

 

HALFTIME

The Bowling Green State University football team trails Pitt 17-10 at halftime of the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field today.

Leading 7-3 after one quarter, Pitt got a 25-yard field goal by Chris Blewitt at 8:29 of the quarter, then took a 17-3 lead as Tyler Boyd returned a punt 54 yards for a score.

The Falcons cut the deficit to a touchdown when Alex Bayer caught a 29-yard scoring pass from Matt Johnson with 1:28 left in the half.

 

FIRST QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team trails Pitt 7-3 after the first quarter of the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field today.

The Falcons scored their points on a 28-yard field goal by Tyler Tate at the 4:26 mark of the quarter.

Pitt responded with a seven-play, 50-yard drive that was capped by a 15-yard touchdown run by James Conner with 58 seconds left in the quarter.
