The 20 North Gallery's Black History Month 2012: Legacy -- Peggy Grant's 35th Annual Exhibit opened Jan. 27. Mrs. Grant, art director at the gallery, started the exhibit in 1977, according to Eric Hillenbrand, the gallery owner.

In honor of Mrs. Grant's milestone exhibition, Toledo city councilman Paula Hicks-Hudson, Lucas County commissioner Pete Gerken, and state Rep. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo) presented her with civic commendations and proclamations. Joining them were former Toledo mayors Donna Owens and Jack Ford, along with Cynthia Ford and Peter Ujvagi.

Ron McKinney, who hosted the exhibit during its early years at his Northshore Displays showroom, attended. Also there were Don and Gisela Stiles, who knew the Grant family 50 years ago before leaving the Toledo area for mission work in Africa.

Karen Glover, daughter of the late LeMaxie Glover, an artist promoted by Mrs. Grant in her first Black History Month exhibit in 1977, was delighted to be part of the night along with friends Bob Rice and Marty Mollenkopf, Cindy and Jack Niggemyer and fellow Toledo Museum of Art docents Annette Donar and Dorothy Rice.

The Golden Retriever Rescue Resource hosted a euchre tournament recently in Rossford. The point-based tournament with timed rounds and rotating partners was priced at $10 per entry.

Sixty players vied to be one of the top four winners who received cash prizes. Tournament winner was Jill Weiner and second place went to Jan Rizzo. Both donated their prizes back to the cause.

The event raised more than $900. The night was so much fun that another tournament is being planned. For information go to www.gr-rescue.org.

Does that music sound familiar? Is it on the tip of your tongue, but you can't place it? The Toledo Board of Realtors' "Name That Tune" event was Jan. 30 at Mulvaney's Bunker Irish Pub and Grill. Cocktails flowed along with tasty tidbits while music from the 1960s to present was played for the competition. More than 100 people came to watch.

Michelle Bono-Stuckey and Laurie Howard worked the crowd selling 50-50 tickets. Michelle won the raffle, then graciously donated her winnings back.

The $500 netted was for BeInstrumental, founded by Jeff Green and John Mackewich to provide musical education resources to children in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

Seen were Megan Meyer-Foos, Neil Mahoney, Tyler Lipinski, Kathy Kuyoth. Kendall Gigax, Eddie Campos, and Vince Lyons.

Committee members included Sean Siwa, Greg Zeilinski, Al Tinney, Debbie Petersheim, Jaci Hays, Lindsay Birr, Vivian Shubeta, John Mangas, and Dan McQuillen.
