Toledo junior Pinyada Kuvanun shot a 1-over-par 73 and sits in a tie for 26th place with 17 others after the first round of the NCAA women’s golf regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Verona.
Kuvanun, who is the second Rockets golfer in history to get to this point, had two birdies and three bogeys in her round at the par-72, 6,313-yard University Ridge Golf Course. She birdied No. 1, followed with bogeys on Nos. 3, 5, and 9, then birdied No. 16.
The top six teams and top three individuals not on qualifying teams will advance to the national championship May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
