Toledo man indicted in another shooting

A Toledo man charged in the slaying of a Waterville Township man was indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury in an unrelated shooting.

James Allen, 18, of 1732 Westland Garden Rd., was indicted on a charge of felonious assault with a firearms specification in the Nov. 5, 2012, shooting of Devante Coleman, 19, of Toledo.

Mr. Coleman was shot in the stomach and leg in the 4200 block of Asbury Drive in West Toledo. Mr. Allen was initially arrested in the incident but the charge was later dropped.

Mr. Allen is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 16 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary in the May 18 shooting death of carryout owner James Safadi at his Waterville Township home.
