OTTAWA, Ohio — Michael Aaron Fay was ordered to serve consecutive life sentences today for the shooting deaths last May of teen brothers Blake and Blaine Romes.

The sentence from Putnam County Common Pleas Judge Randall Bassinger will alllow Fay, 18, to go before the parole board only after he serves 60 years of the sentence.

Fay entered into a plea agreement in October and admitted to the murders on May 9 of Blaine, 14, and Blake, 17, who lived with Fay in Ottawa.

Blaine was shot once in the head while he slept on a couch. His brother died after he was strangled, assaulted, and shot in the head while he slept in a bedroom of the home.

Fay told police that he shot the teenagers because he was angry with them over an argument they had about Fay's older brother moving back into their home.

In exchange for the pleas, prosecutors agreed to dismiss two counts of abuse of a corpse and single counts of tampering with evidence and motor vehicle theft.
