A Lucas County grand jury indicted a Toledo man Monday on charges he broke into an elderly man’s apartment and assaulted him.
Frederico Ortiz III, 24, of 5555 Lewis Ave. was indicted on charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, robbery, felonious assault, and attempted aggravated burglary stemming from two incidents that occurred less than an hour apart on Nov. 29 in Oregon.
Oregon police arrested Ortiz after responding to a report of an intruder breaking a glass patio door at a Pickle Road apartment about 10 p.m. Investigators allege the same person assaulted a 73-year-old man when he answered a knock at his Pickle Road apartment about 9:20 p.m. The assailant demanded his wallet but fled without obtaining it.
