Suspect in cab holdups enters plea of not guilty

BLADE STAFF

A former Scott High School basketball standout pleaded not guilty Thursday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to two counts of aggravated robbery with firearms specifications.

Jermul Richardson, 18, of 1800 McCord Rd., was arraigned on the charges before Judge James Bates, who continued the $20,000 bond set for Mr. Richardson in September. A warrant was issued for Mr. Richardson after he failed to appear in court last fall.

Mr. Richardson, who also is being held on an unrelated charge of burglary for a June 25 incident, was indicted Aug. 26 along with Kesean Harris, 22, of 1822 Alvin St. for an Aug. 14 robbery of a Checker Cab driver in the 3100 block of Warsaw Street and an Aug. 16 holdup of a Black & White Cab driver in the 1000 block of Baker Street. Harris was sentenced in December to four years in prison for two counts of complicity to robbery.
