A Toledo man who killed a motorcyclist last August on Douglas Road and then fled the crash was sentenced today to 10 years in prison.
David A. Robinson, 39, of 5285 Dixon Ave. pleaded no contest in February to aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop last month in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for the Aug. 21 crash that resulted in the death of Jason Alexander, 32.
Judge Dean Mandros found him guilty at the February hearing, and today imposed seven years for aggravated vehicular homicide and three years for failure to stop and ordered the sentences, to be served consecutively.
Robinson, who had been released from the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio earlier the same day, was southbound on Douglas Road about 11:30 p.m. when he drove into the northbound lane and struck Mr. Alexander’s motorcycle head on in the intersection of Ida Avenue.
Judge Mandros's sentence also included a lifetime driver's license suspension and $25,000 fine.
