River Raisin focuses on tribal warriors

River Raisin National Battlefield Park will host a presentation on July 20 at 11 a.m. about Great Lakes tribal warriors and what happened to many tribes after the War of 1812. The park is located at 1403 East Elm Ave. in Monroe.

Presenter Eric Hemenway is director of repatriation, archives, and records for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. He will focus his presentation on unknown tribes of the Great Lakes area, including the Odawa tribe.

Mr. Hemenway is a member of the Emmet County Historical Commission and State of Michigan Commission on the Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, and is a trustee for the Harbor Springs History Museum. For more information, call the park at 734-243-7136.
