Trick-or-treat times set

Perrysburg Twp. establishes 6-8 p.m. on Halloween

Perrysburg Township Trustees on Wednesday set this year's Halloween trick-or-treat time for 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 31.

The trustees at their meeting also voted 2-0 to fund the township's share of a Buck Road and Lime City Road engineering study. The $58,455 study, to be done by DGL Consulting Engineers, Maumee, costs $11,691 for each of the five parties involved: The township, the Wood County Engineer's Office, the City of Rossford, Penta Career Center, and the Rossford Transportation Improvement District board.

Trustee Bob Mack said previously the Ohio Department of Transportation wanted to put in two roundabouts, one at the intersection and another at the entrance to Penta Career Center. Mr. Mack said the five stakeholders tried to put in the roundabouts previously, but Rossford City Council didn't approve it, thinking a roundabout at the school entrance was overkill.

"We're going back to the drawing board," Mr. Mack said. "We might not have a roundabout in front of Penta to try to save some money."

The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments has grant money available if work is done at the intersection. Township Administrator Walt Celley said moving forward with the project the township wouldn't be splitting the costs evenly between stakeholders.

In the original proposal, Wood County and Rossford each were asked to spend up to $550,000; the township, $350,000; Penta Career Center, $150,000, and the Transportation Improvement District the remaining $568,000.

In April of 2012, Rossford city council rejected that plan 4-3, saying that Penta Career Center should cover more of the expense.

Trustee Gary Britten abstained Wednesday from the vote on the engineering study.
