Allen Township, Oak Harbor, and Port Clinton were among 11 municipalities and organizations that received funding from the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste Management District to start recycling programs or buy products made from recycled materials.
Allen Township received $10,000 to purchase fencing through the district's grant program, which requires applicants to provide at least 20 percent of the total project's cost.
Oak Harbor and Boy Scout Troop 316 received $698 for a message board, and Port Clinton received $5,696 to buy park benches and trash receptacles.
To explain how to apply for the next round of funding, the district is holding a meeting at 10 a.m. June 3 at its office, 1875 East State St., Fremont.
