Supporters of Issue 2, the school-rebuilding levy request for Toledo Public Schools, were holding on to a narrow victory this morning.
With all precincts reporting, 28,835 votes, or 50.8 percent, endorsed the levy, while 27,929, or 49.2 percent, opposed it.
If Issue 2 is approved, it would raise about $207 million for construction costs, roughly $33 million for building maintenance, and financing costs for the $821 million project through a 4.99-mill levy. The state would contribute about $614 million through the Ohio School Facilities Commission that is partly funded by tobacco settlement money.
