Teacher of the Week: Christina Rode

Christina Rode has built outstanding rapport with the students she teaches. Many of her students have gone on to pursue a degree and career in teaching English because of her influence. She demonstrates a true passion for her work and was recently recognized by her students who took the time to seek out and secure a formal British title for her. She now has the name of Lady Christina of Sealand, a tiny island off Britain.

Mrs. Rode has served in various roles outside teaching while at St. Ursula. When the educational market called for change, she worked to develop and execute the role of admissions director that is now a necessity. She also demonstrated her dedication to St. Ursula Academy by way of her voluntary involvement in many aspects of the institution. She mentors new teachers, serves as a faculty liaison for the Arrow Booster Club, assists with valedictorian and salutatorian speeches and is in countless other roles that show support for St. Ursula.

She has served as moderator for the National Honor Society, student council, senior projects, and is chairman for the English department. It is no wonder she was a top student in the College of Education while she attended the University of Toledo.

"Her expectation for high standards, along with her literary wit, keep her students engaged and constantly asking for more," said Kim Sofo, principal.
