WASHINGTON — The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has promoted a former Midwest regional administrator to one of its top jobs, effective Aug. 25.
Mark A. Satorius has been chosen as the NRC's new executive director of operations, the agency's highest ranking job behind chairman. Before relocating to Washington, where he most recently headed the NRC's Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management, Mr. Satorius was Midwest regional administrator of the NRC's Midwest regional office in Lisle, Ill.
That office oversees FirstEnergy Corp.’s Davis-Besse nuclear plant in Ottawa County, DTE Electric Co.’s Fermi 2 nuclear plant in Monroe County, and 21 other nuclear plants that are mostly in the Great Lakes region. He has been with the NRC for 24 years.
