Columbia Gas rate drops 2 cents for Aug.

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Tuesday that its rate for August will be 48 cents per 100 cubic feet of natural gas, a two-cent decrease from the July rate. The new rate is based on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s closing price of 35 cents per 100 cubic feet, plus 13 cents for a state-approved service fee.

A year ago, the rate was 45 cents per 100 cubic feet. With the new rate, the average residential bill will be $30.76 in August, the gas utility said.
