Columbia Gas bills to increase in May

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Wednesday that its residential natural gas rate for May will be 62 cents per hundred cubic feet.

The May rate is based on a recent closing price of 48 cents per ccf on the New York Mercantile Exchange, plus 14 cents for a state-approved service fee.

The utility said the average bill in May will be $59.69. The April rate was 60 cents per ccf, and the rate for last May was 54 cents, Columbia Gas said.
