Last week, using the Internet, I was able to track the price of gasoline here in the Toledo area and in North Carolina, where I go frequently.
Gasoline here has been running around $2.65, while in North Carolina, its been close to $2.25. North Carolina’s gas tax is 6 cents more per gallon than Ohio.
The news media tell us that repairs and maintenance to the Texas refineries, needed as a result of the recent hurricanes, are the reasons for our high prices. It makes me wonder where North Carolina receives its gasoline. Are we being ripped off?

Don’t support felon from India
Let me see if I have this correct. A man from India plots to kill one of our judges and is found guilty (Nov. 6, “Man gets 27 years in plot to kill area federal judge”).
So, for the next 27½ years, we will clothe him, feed him, take care of his medical needs, and he won’t have to raise a finger during that time. When it is over, we will buy him a ticket so he can go home.
Sure, he will be fined for his crime, but no one expects him to pay it since his salary for the next 27½ years will be minimal.
Am I the only one who thinks this needs rethinking?
Honor crew from Edmund Fitzgerald
The Veterans’ Glass City Skyway should be renamed “The Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Bridge.”
It would be a fitting honor, and there is a plaque at the adjoining park with the names of Capt. Ernest McSorley, an Ottawa Hills native, and crew members, many of whom were from Toledo.
It is also a made to order location as it is adjoining the maritime museum and museum ship.
Look elsewhere for graffiti suspect
I’ve got a hunch that the “I voted 4 Trump” graffiti found in a BGSU bathroom was not written by someone who voted for Mr. Trump or is a Republican (Nov. 6, “Hate crime probes climb in Toledo, other local areas”).
