Chears scores 22 to pace Scott victory

Vershawn Chears scored 22 points and Romeo Alexander added 13 as Scott defeated Bowsher 57-53 last night in boys basketball.

Chris Wyse led the Rebels with 19 points.

The victory left Scott 4-4 overall, but 4-0 in the City League. The Rebels dropped to 3-4, 1-3.

ST. JOHN S 72, ROGERS 62

Brian Roberts scored 27 points, B.J. Raymond added 19 and Ted Heintschel 13, but the Titans struggled to get by Rogers.

Fred Davis led Rogers with 17, Marquis Gunn added 12, Jarret Hinkle-Wyatt 11 and Stewart Armstrong 10.

St. John s hit 16 of 21 free throws to Rogers 3 of 11.

START 66, CLAY 52

Matt Foley scored 26 points and Justin Morris added 16 for Start.

Brett McDougle paced Clay with 23 and John Nelson added 11.

Start led 24-23 at the half, then pulled away with a 21-11 third-quarter advantage.

ST. FRANCIS 72, WAITE 55

Drew Donovan led St. Francis with 24 points, C.J. Johnson added 12 and Darryl Roberts 11.

Mike Lucas had 17 for Waite while Sean Hamilton and Richard Norment added 10 apiece.

The Knights hit 16 of 21 foul shots to Waite s 13 of 19.

WOODMORE 65,

ELMWOOD 54

ELMORE - Tyler Rosenberger scored 22 points, including 10-for-10 foul shooting, for Woodmore. Brian Perkins added 14 points and Joe Nowak had 11. The Wildcats made 21 of 24 foul shots.

Dustin Reynolds scored 15 and Kyle Rhoad 11 for Elmwood, which hit 11 of 13 from the line.

OTSEGO 82, LAKE 48

TONTOGANY - Damien Montelongo poured in 30 points to pace Otsego, and got lots of support as Jordan Murphy had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Chad Zellin 13 points, Casey Donald 10 points and Matt Miles 13 assists.

Wes Blank led Lake with 20.

GENOA 54, LAKOTA 36

KANSAS - Genoa used balance as Zach Alt had 14, Adam Edens 13 and Cory Hoeft 10.

Andrew Hoffman led Lakota with 15 and P.J. Combs added 10.

Genoa outscored Lakota 34-15 in the second half.

PEMBERVILLE - Kevin Leady scored 25 points, including nine in the fourth quarter when Eastwood outscored Gibsonburg 22-9.

Marcus Ahle led Gibsonburg with 18 points.

Mike Adams led Northwood with 13 points.

Derek Merrin scored 28 points, Matt Velaquez added 22 and Brian Boes had 18 for 6-2 Monclova Christian.

Ted Peacock and Brandon Martin scored 15 apiece for Tri-County (3-2).

CARLETON, Mich. - Brian Champine scored 15 and Jake Welch 14 for 6-1 Bedford, which led 24-2 at the half.

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. - Kevin Laderach scored 23 points and Erie Mason (4-1) took control with an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter. Nick Schmidt led Whiteford (1-6) with 15 points.
