BOWLING GREEN — Findlay captured the team all-around championship and qualified for state competition in the four individual events Friday night at the district gymnastics meet at Bowling Green State University’s Anderson Arena.
The Trojans posted 141.9 points to edge runner-up Springfield (134.9) for the championship. Maumee was third at 134.225, Notre Dame placed fourth at 132.65, and Clay took fifth in the team standings at 132.5.
The top two teams qualify to the state meet Friday and Saturday at Hilliard Bradley High School in suburban Columbus.
Findlay placed first as a team in the vault, on the bars, and in the floor exercise, and took second on the beam.
Notre Dame, which won the beam team title, also took second to qualify for state on the bars. Maumee and Springfield placed second in the vault and in the floor exercise, respectively, to earn team berths at state in those events.
Individually, the all-around champion was Ashleigh Lindsey of Marion Harding, who placed second in all four events to finish with a score of 36.9.
The top five individuals in the all-around, and in each of the four events, all qualify for state.
Findlay’s Alexa Settlemire, who qualified for state individual competition in four events as well as a team member, won the vault (9.65) and took third on the bars and in floor exercise, in posting a second-place all-around score of 36.73.
Her teammates, Tori Cox (35.25) and Leah Thomas (35.08), placed third and fourth, respectively, in the all-around, and Tinora’s Alexa Behringer was fifth at 34.98.beam.
Archbold’s Kinsey Smith won district titles on the bars (9.25), and in floor exercise (9.53). Tinora’s Raeana Moser was the other individual event champion, winning on the beam (9.28).
Reaching state from Notre Dame were Krya Schell and Kelsie Steinmetz, who placed third and fifth, respectively, on the beam.
Also qualifying for state are Northview’s Megan Matrisciano (fourth in vault, fifth in floor), Clay’s Ashley O’Neal (fourth on beam), and Liberty Center’s Cheyenne Rentschler (fifth in vault).
