Running games wear down opponents as Knights, Panthers, Rebels grind out wins

Panthers roll past Perrysburg

The Panthers got more of a test than perhaps they had planned on from the host Yellow Jackets, but eventually coasted to a 42-25 victory behind solid production from their new set of quarterbacks and running backs. PHOTO GALLERY

St. Francis grinds out win

The old adage that hard work in the offseason spells success under the lights on Friday nights rang true for St. Francis de Sales in the Knights' opener. St. Francis ground out a 21-18 win over Southview at the Glass Bowl, rushing for more yards than the Cougars totaled overall. PHOTO GALLERY

Rebels run past Panthers

Bowsher running back Mark Washington is built like a Tonka truck and ran like one Friday night. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound ran over and around Maumee defenders for 117 yards on 13 carries — including touchdown runs of 6, 39, and 34 yards — to lead the Rebels to a 24-20 comeback victory in a season opener.
