Maumee’s Utter tosses 3 TD passes

Row’s interception sparks Clay past Waite

Maumee 28, Start 7

Junior quarterback Brian Utter tossed three touchdown passes Friday night to lead the host Panthers.

Utter threw scoring strikes of 6 yards to Brian Autry, 44 yards to Zak Mathias, and 17 yards to Darius Ray.

He completed 18 of 28 passes for 202 yards, and also paced Maumee (2-1) in rushing with 96 yards in 12 tries. Cahle Puhl had nine-yard TD run.

Start (0-3) got its score on a second-quarter pass from Brandon Winters to Aaron Williams.

 

Clay 47, Waite 21

Kyle Row returned an interception 80 yards for touchdown to give Clay a third quarter lead it did not relinquish.

Waite opened the second half with an 80-yard TD pass from Jeremy Pratt to Doondre Irish. Clay fumbled the ensuing kickoff and lost possession, only to go up 21-14 the next play on Row's interception.

Clay's Josh Pennington threw three TD passes among his five completions, hooking up with Anthony Ramirez (68 yards), Row (7), and Jay Smith (11). Pennington had a seven-yard TD run.

Ryan Fournier gained 109 yards on 16 carries for the Eagles (2-1). Aaron Seymour had two 2-yard TD runs.

Pratt was 12 of 23 for 180 yards and two TDs. Irish caught five passes for 116 yards and two scores. Nate Houls scored on a two-yard run for Waite (0-3).

 

Napoleon 48, Rogers 0

NAPOLEON — Devon Armour returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for the first of seven Napoleon touchdowns.

Blake Dunbar was 9 of 13 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns. He connected for third-quarter scores to Anson Lankenau (25 yards) and Bo Cochran (18).

Bryant Schlade carred 13 times for 108 yards and a 23-yard TD run.

Also scoring on the ground for the Wildcats (2-1) were Nate Rohrs (25 yards), Armour (5 yards) and Derek Butler (23 yards).

Rogers (1-2) was held to 110 total yards.

 

Northwood 49, Woodward 26

Northwood rushed for 547 yards on 55 carries, controlling the game on the ground at Waite.

Dominik Bermejo rushed for 279 yards and three touchdowns, while Jake Davenport ran for 140 yards and two TDs. Michael Vallego added a 37-yard TD run. Travis Whitmore returned a fumble 11 yards for a score

Mordecai Brownlee rushed for 109 yards and a 35-yard TD for Woodward (1-2). Vedel Williams had a 35-yard TD scamper. Darius Fleming threw an 80-yard scoring pass to Samuel Fields. James Martin returned a kick 91-yards for another TD.

 

Lorain 54, Scott 12

Eddie Williamson passed for 216 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Lorain.

Sherman Saunders rushed for 167 yards and a score for Lorain. Aaron Neal added two rushing TDs and caught two TD passes.

Trey Brown led Scott with 134 yards rushing and two touchdown runs (65 yards and one yard).
