The difference in winning the 2013 Marathon Classic ultimately came down to one birdie. And Beatriz Recari had one more than her closest opponent.

Today at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Recari birdied five holes en route to winning the 2013 Marathon Classic. Recari finished one stroke ahead of Paula Creamer, completing completed the final round with a 5-under-par 66, including five birdies, and completed the tournament 17-under at 267. Creamer shot a 67 and had four birdies.
"I still can't believe it," said Recari, who earned her third career win. "I was so focused for the last three rounds to keep cool and just focus on my game because Paula played amazing.
"She made a birdie on 3, I made a birdie on 4, she made a birdie on 5 and I made birdies on six, on seven ... it was back and forth, back and forth. It was a lot of fun. She played great. She's that good of a player.
"It all came down to the last putt."
Creamer finished two strokes ahead of Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Lexi Thompson, who tied for third, and three ahead of Angela Stanford and Jacqui Concolino, who tied for fifth.
"If I stayed right around in front, or right around Beatriz, I knew that someone would have to play really good," Creamer said of being in the top two on the final day of the tournament. "It was good golf. There was a lot of great shots and it was exciting down the stretch. That's what you want. Honestly, I had so much fun out there. It was great. Being in contention, making great shots and making some big putts at the right time."
Stacy Lewis, who was born in Toledo, finished in a five-way tie for seventh (275). Lewis finished 9-under for the tournament. So Yeon Ryu, the 2012 tournament champion, finished in a four-way tie for 12th (276)
