Michigan's AD: Brady Hoke will remain Wolverines coach

BLADE STAFF

ANN ARBOR - Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon reiterated tonight that Brady Hoke will remain as head football coach of the Wolverines.

"Brady has done a great job rebuilding the program and reshaping the culture to the level it was under coaches Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller and Lloyd Carr," Brandon wrote on his blog on mgoblue.com, the Michigan athletics website. "Anyone making efforts to stir up a coaching controversy at Michigan is ill-informed and is likely promoting a personal agenda that is not in the best interest of Michigan Football."

Brandon's vote of confidence comes a day after Jabrill Peppers, a five-star defensive back from New Jersey and a Michigan commit, announced that he planned to take recruiting visits to other schools.

"I am still 100% committed to the University of Michigan and that is the place where I want to go to college," Peppers told ESPN. "With the rumors about Coach Hoke possibly not being there I need to make sure that I have options and have seen other places."

Earlier this month, Brandon told the Associated Press that he had given Hoke a vote of confidence as Michigan's football coach.

“He’s absolutely the right guy to lead the Michigan football program,” Brandon said after Michigan's 29-6 loss at Michigan State.

Michigan (7-4, 3-4 Big Ten) hosts Ohio State (11-0, 7-0) at noon Saturday at Michigan Stadium. The Buckeyes are a 16-point favorite in the annual grudge match.
