DURHAM, N.C. — The Mud Hens had their win streak snapped at six games with a 4-3 defeat Friday night at the hands of the Durham Bulls after leading late in the game.
Durham took a 1-0 lead in the first on a solo home run by Brandon Guyer.
Ryan Strieby tied the game up with a solo shot of his own in the fourth. The homer was Strieby’s 16th of the season with Toledo.
The Hens (46-55) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Perez drove a ball over the right-field wall.
In the seventh, Clete Thomas singled, then stole second — his 11th steal of the season.
He was able to dart to third when the catcher overthrew second on the steal attempt.
Max St-Pierre eventually knocked in Thomas with a RBI single to give the Hens a 3-1 lead.
The Hens’ fell behind 4-3 in the seventh when the Bulls plated three runs after a run-scoring wild pitch by starter Andy Oliver, an RBI single, and an RBI double.
Timo Perez went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Oliver (6-7) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs through six innings.
Will Rhymes went 2 for 5 in the loss as well.
The two clubs will go at it once again Saturday night at 7:05.
