Backstreet Boys to play Huntington

Tickets are still available for former boy band’s Sunday show

Backstreet’s back, and they aren’t going anywhere, member Nick Carter said in a news release.

In July, the Backstreet Boys dropped the group’s eighth album, “In a World Like This,” commemorating 20 years in the music industry. (See review on Page 13) After a six-year hiatus, member Kevin Richardson reunited with the band to record the album.

With new music and the return of Richardson, the group has embarked on a world tour that will hit Toledo on Sunday. Originally set to be held at the Toledo Zoo, the concert was moved to the downtown Huntington Center due to production issues.

The tour, the 10th by the boy band whose members are now all adults, will play more than 40 shows in Asia and North America, and marks the first time the group has toured as a quintet in more than seven years.

The Backstreet Boys rose to fame in 1996 with the international release of their debut album “Backstreet Boys.” Their superstar status was solidified with the 1999 release of “Millenium” and the follow up album, “Black & Blue,” released in 2000. To date, the group has sold more than 130 million albums.

Sunday’s show at Huntington Center will feature special guests DJ Pauly D and Jesse McCartney. Show time is at 7 p.m. Limited tickets are available and cost $125, $89.50, $75, and $35.
