It was senior night at Steinecker Stadium on Friday, but Perrysburg's junior quarterback Gus Dimmerling stole the show as the Yellow Jackets earned a share of the Northern Lakes League championship with a 42-19 win against Springfield.
Dimmerling took the second snap of the game in shotgun and ran up the middle for a 58-yard touchdown, making it 7-0 Perrysburg. In the second quarter, he showcased his speed on a quarterback on third-and-one, going untouched up the middle for a 61-yard TD.
Dimmerling threw for 107 yards on 7 of 13 passing. He rushed for 190 yards on 14 carries and two TDs.
"Holes were great all night," Dimmerling said. "The offensive line was pushing people back. It made it easy to run, no one touched me and and I ran straight up the middle [during the second TD run]."
