Area residents and some local businesses will be at Owens Community College next week to learn about landscaping, gardening, tree care, and turf industry at the 2014 Northwest Ohio Green Industry Summer Session.
Owens, in conjunction with Ohio State University‘s Bowling Green extension center will host the session from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Owen’s audio and visual classroom center off Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The workshop costs $25 online or by phone; onsite registration the day of the workshop is $30.
The regional workshop will feature various presentations on insects and pesticides, tree and plant care, and turf and landscape topics by industry professionals from The Ohio State Extension, Owens Community College and keynote speaker Matthew Ross, continuing education coordinator at Longwood Garden.
There will be 12 different presentations on topics such as managing wildlife conflict in the landscape, integrating native species into your veggie garden, underutilized woody shrubs, and what’s new in herbaceous perennials.
