Owens Community College is offering a camp for teenagers looking to possibly grow up and become detectives after high school.

On July 9, 10, and 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Perrysburg Township college will host a Crime Scene Investigation Youth camp for children from the ages 13 to 17. Students will work as a forensic team, each student detective will have the opportunity to find evidence and clues from a pretend crime scene. An instructor and coach will help guide participants to use deductive skills, teamwork, math, and science to solve the crimes.

Each camper will be trained to collect fingerprints, fibers and hair, simulated blood spatter, DNA, and tire and shoe prints.

Registration for the CSI Youth Camp is $150. For information or to register, call 567-661-2411 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 2411.

Student detectives will learn how to protect the chain of evidence as they interview witnesses, and develop theories while working as a team to solve the crime. During the last day of camp, each attendee will make a presentation detailing their theories of the crime, and identifying the perpetrators of the criminal activity. Each team presentation will be critiqued by a panel of law enforcement officers and forensic scientists.
