The ceremony was highlighted by a replica American Flag from 1812 being raised by five officers in 1812 uniforms at the fort in Perrysburg. The 15-star flag was symbolically retired after two current members of the military raised the present-day American Flag.
There also was a dedication of a Memorial Walkway that honors founders and members of Army Lodge No. 24 who served in the War of 1812. The Blade was one of the sponsors of the project. Materials cost $3,500, and there was volunteer labor from the Northern Light Lodge No. 40 in Maumee.
Robert Rill, Jr. served as master of ceremonies.
The Northern Light Lodge No. 40 in Maumee, the Wood County Lodge No. 112 in Bowling Green, and the Phoenix Lodge No. 123 in Perrysburg were three Masonic lodges recognized at the ceremony. There was a dinner afterward.
