Perrysburg City Council today adopted a special land use ordinance for a new Mercy Hospital emergency services and diagnostic center.

FASN Enterprises LLC plans to build the $12.7 million medical facility at the corner of Eckel Junction Road and State Route 25 on 12 acres of land, near the BP gas station. The center is expected to open next fall.

Council approved the measure 6-0, with J. Todd Grayson abstaining.

The center is to be open 24 hours a day and is to provide hospital-quality emergency care.

Mercy officials have said that Perrysburg is the ideal site for the center because its population is increasing and it is central to Mercy's hospitals. They said they needed the special land use permit to move forward with the project.

In other matters, Mayor Nelson Evans called for applicants to serve on various city committees, commissions, and boards. He said forms were available in his office and on the city's Web site.
