Rezoning application in Perrysburg Township withdraw

Residents were notified not to come or found no meeting when they arrived for the Perrysburg Township public hearing set for 6 p.m. Tuesday because the rezoning application was withdrawn earlier in the day.

The hearing was for Danberry National's applying to rezone 94 acres in five parcels of land from agricultural to industrial. The parcels are quarter mile north of Mandell Road, east of I-75, west of Glenwood Road, and south of the City of Rossford. About 30 residents in an April 14 zoning commission hearing spoke against the rezoning.

The rezoning process wasn't going well.

Residents cited traffic hazards as the main reason against the rezoning. The zoning commission listened and voted 4-0 in recommendation to the trustees to reject the change.

Township Zoning Administrator Kelly Hemminger said that, if the group wants to look at rezoning the application, it will have to start again at the Wood County level, then the local zoning commission and trustees again. The Wood County Planning Commission previously approved the rezoning April 1.

In the trustees meeting before the public hearing, Ms. Hemminger said zoning commission alternative member John Benavides will be moving from the township and can no longer serve. She wanted to recognize his 14 years of service. The panel, she said, is looking for a new alternative member.
