The Owens Community College Foundation is offering 60 scholarships for the 2013-14 school year.
Applicants must submit forms to the Oserve Office at any one of the college’s four locations by Feb. 15. Scholarship award notification will begin in May and will continue until all awards have been made.
For scholarships based on financial need, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application must be on file by Feb. 28. FAFSA and Foundation Scholarship Program forms are available in the college’s Oserve Office or can be downloaded by accessing the Owens Web site at www.owens.edu.
Owens, with its main campus on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township, participates in several need-based federal and state funded grant programs, work study opportunities, and loans, which all require applicants to file a FAFSA form to determine financial need. Specific programs accessible to students include the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, the Owens Community College Grant, the Federal Direct Stafford Loan, the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan and Federal Work Study.
The Owens Foundation, incorporated in 2002, has more than $2.7 million in assets. Its board has 29 community leaders from Lucas, Wood and Hancock counties. This past academic year, Owens provided more than $96 million in grants, scholarships, loans and federal work study.
