Some Perrysburg Township residents proudly say they are Bulldogs from Rossford. The township is divided between school districts, with a large chunk in the Rossford School District.

"We don't live in town, but we're proud members of Rossford schools," said Sharon Belkofer, who lives in Perrysburg Township and her children went to Rossford Schools. "[My children's] friends were in Rossford, we went to the Rossford sporting events. We're Bulldogs."

A Perrysburg Township spokesman said the district's territory in the township has caused confusion for some people moving in and trying to figure out what school their children will attend. Perrysburg and Rossford schools consume most of Perrysburg Township, but there are segments in the township which are in the Lake and Eastwood school districts.

Most Perrysburg Township students who are young in the Rossford school district attend Glenwood Elementary at Lime City Road and State Rt. 795. The school is actually in Rossford, a piece of land that is in the city but surrounded by Perrysburg Township.

Megan Spangler, principal of Glenwood Elementary, said there have been no issues of confusion or concern regarding the school district jurisdiction since she's been in the district for 10 years.

Parent Al Espen lives in Rossford, but is aware of some township residents in the past being confused, and sometimes thinking if Perrysburg Schools have a delay or closing that their children going to Glenwood also are delayed or off.

“For most of the people it isn't an issue,” Mr. Espen said. “But there's some ignorance for some.”

Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Tom Hosler said he hasn't heard of much confusion or issues with the multiple school districts in the township, except for one instance. Years ago, he said, a family moved to a neighborhood surrounding Belmont County Club in the township and was told by a real estate agent that the property was in the Perrysburg School District when it was actually in the Rossford School District and the family wasn't happy.

Real estate agent Jon Modene, of ReMax Masters in Perrysburg, had a call Monday morning of a family looking to buy a home in Perrysburg Township. Once they heard the home wasn't in the Perrysburg School District it ended the conversation.

"It matters a lot," Mr. Modene said. "Rossford is a good district but Perrysburg schools is a draw with the new high school and it is highly ranked."

He said some families ask to be in the Rossford Schools if they are already in it. Some without children look to get out of the district to avoid Perrysburg schools taxes.

Some apartment complexes off of Tracy Road in Perrysburg Township are in the Lake Schools and some residents in the southeast corner of the township attend Eastwood Schools.

"We're happy to have [the township] students," Rossford Superintendent Dan Creps said.
