Construction is underway on a new CVS in Sylvania. The building is located on the corner of King Road and Sylvania Avenue.
Developers of the new CVS Pharmacy at Sylvania Avenue and King Road say the construction is on schedule, and the store should be opened by November.
Walls are being built for the drug store as well as other site work for water drainage is under way.
“We are making pretty good progress,” said John Wojtila, senior development manager for Zaremba Group of Cleveland, the developer of the Sylvania site.
Construction of the 13,000-square-foot CVS at 7510 Sylvania Ave. began in late March. Plans include a drive-through window on the one-story building. It is being built on the site where Timberstone Plaza was located. The building was was razed to make room for the pharmacy.
Construction is expected to wrap up in October, said Roger Pahoresky, Zaremba's project manager. It will take about a month to add shelving, fixtures, and merchandise, he said. Crews are working on the building base, walls, and installing site utilities, he said.
Sylvania City Council authorized a rezoning request in February to change the plot of land from heavy industrial to general business, allowing the drug store to be constructed.
Because officials were concerned about traffic, approval was giving with the promise that if property along King, north of the drugstore, was developed commercially, CVS would have to negotiate with that site's owner to build an internal cross-access drive and common driveway.
