Lourdes to celebrate Black History Month through poetry, song, dance

Students to perform “praise dance” and give presentation

Lourdes University will host its annual Celebration of Black History on Feb. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This year’s celebration features keynote speakers Juanita Greene, former director of the City of Toledo’s Board of Community Relations, and Mark Robinson, director of Field Education in Lourdes’ department of social work and founder of RESTORE Inc.

Students at Lourdes will pay tribute to Black History with presentations from Lourdes’ Civil Rights Movement course and a praise dance performed by Kiera Williams.

The celebration will include poetry and live music by the Toledo Choral Society, the Lourdes Chorus and Good Company Ensemble, Toledo Youth Choir, and poet and artist Annette McClair

The celebration will be held in the Franciscan Center and is free and open to the public.
