The Johnny Knorr Band, led by Jerry, the son of late bandmaster Johnny, highlighted the birthday bash. The band gave a nod to its ballroom roots playing songs from Glenn Miller and the swing era. Veteran local broadcaster Jim Tichy served as master of ceremonies and Mike Lieber, Sylvania‘s Town Crier, opened the festivities with a birthday proclamation.

The facility opened on June 29, 1939 as an outdoor ballroom. At that time, its wooden stage was a hot spot on the big-band circuit. Glenn Miller, Harry James, Ray Anthony, Les Brown, the Dorsey brothers, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton performed there while music lovers danced under the stars.

Today, the terrace books numerous local and national musical acts, who perform on relatively new stage. Recent acts include Willie Nelson, Tesla, Beach Boys, and Trace Adkins.
