Members of Sylvania's City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday to discuss labor contracts and the Maplewood Marketplace improvements.
The meeting will begin at 4:15 p.m. and will take place in council chambers, at 6635 Maplewood Ave. In November, council officials announced that a new business tenant was interested in part of the Maplewood Marketplace property, which is located at the corner of Maplewood Ave. and Main St., in downtown Sylvania.
At that time, Mayor Craig Stough said that an “office type” business could bring in $1 million annually in revenues into the city. He said repairs would need to be made to the Marketplace to reel in the prospective tenant. Improvements are estimated to cost around $500,000.
There were 14 bids for the repair project, but the mayor asked earlier this month that they be put on hold.
