Sylvania area crime log, fire runs 2/25

Sylvania Police

Feb. 13

Theft. Barney's Convenience Mart, 6127 Monroe St., reported money and store credits totaling $4,016.55 were stolen. The story has surveillance footage from Jan. 15 to Feb. 3. Store management says the theft occurred from June 6, 2012 to Feb 3.

Feb. 16

Theft. Kroger, 7545 Sylvania Ave., reported $140.97 in groceries was stolen. Witnesses reported seeing suspect leave without paying for the items.

Feb. 18

Theft. Kroger, 7545 Sylvania Ave., reported that 31 pounds of dog food and laundry detergent, worth a total of  $142, were stolen. Police recovered the items and the suspect was cited.

Feb. 19

Theft. Kroger, 7545 Sylvania Ave., reported that $23.04 worth of groceries was stolen. Suspect was caught and given a summons to court.

Feb. 20

Identity Theft. Diana Newland, 6000 block of Durbin Road, reported someone used her Social Security number to file a tax return.

Feb. 21

Theft. Emma Gess, 4000 block of New England Lane, reported stolen cash and gift cards from her purse totaling $110.

Theft. Directions Credit Union, 5121 Whiteford Rd., reported that someone tried to electronically wire $38,000 from an unauthorized account to another account. The credit union closed down both accounts.

Feb. 22

Theft. Super Wash, 5517 West Alexis Rd., reported someone tampered with the coin machines  and damaged the safe. Nothing was stolen.

Feb. 24

Theft. Cassie Ysassi, 3000 block of Washburn Road, Berkey, reported that someone stole her Louis Vuitton purse worth $900 that contained $100.

Sylvania Township Police

Feb. 12

Theft. Gordon Food Service, 5735 Central Ave., reported that $160 worth of 5-hour energy drink stolen. Police retrieved surveillance video of the alleged incident.

Theft. Ryan Hill, 6400 block of Sylvania Avenue, reported someone stole his sports apparel and car keys valued $100 while working out at the Jewish Community Center, 6465 Sylvania Ave.

Feb. 14

Breaking and entering. Sylvan Oak Family Physicians, 6800 West Central Ave., reported, that one of the entry door's glass was smashed, and a locked door pried open. It appeared that nothing was taken.

Feb. 19

Theft. Florentino Vergiels, 2700 block of Pin Oak Drive, reported that clothes and shoes worth $170 were taken from his vehicle at Chuck E. Cheese's, 5077 Monroe St. The store's video tapes showed suspects taking items from the car.

Theft. Kathleen Stayancho, 2300 block of Monroe Street, reported that someone broke into her car and stole clothes worth $100. The car was parked at Finance Systems of Toledo 2821 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd.

Theft. Kevin Scoles, 4700 block of Carskaddon Avenue, Toledo, reported that his Garmin GPS, $100, and DVD player stereo $1,000 were stolen from his vehicle while parked at Chuck E. Cheese's, 5077 Monroe St.,

Feb. 14

Monroe Street, and Glasgow Road, passenger vehicle fire.

Feb. 15

8400 block of Kindheart Road, chimney fire.

Feb. 17

5600 block of Dornell Drive, outside rubbish fire.

Feb. 25

4800 block of Olde Meadow Lane, gas leak.
