Neil Mashalkar, a member of the Cat Attack Robotics team, checks the oil level on a lawnmower at Sylvania High School in Sylvania, Saturday.
Students of the Cat Attack FIRST Robotics Team 451 put a little elbow grease into preparing area residents’ lawnmowers for the chilling winter months.
As part of a fund-raiser, the Southview team hosted a Lawnmower Winterization service from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Southview High School on Sylvania Avenue.
Students offered, for $30, to provide service to lawnmowers for the winter, so the equipment will be ready to use next spring when the next mowing season comes along. The program had the students sharpening lawnmower blades, changing the machine's oil, and stabilizing the gas. The machines also received a power wash.
Students also offered pick-up and delivery services for an extra fee. Proceeds assist the team in their robotic endeavors and competitions.
