The Lucas County Sanitary Engineer has issued a water advisory for the area along Holland-Sylvania Road from Westacre Lane to I-475 in Sylvania Township. The advisory does not include residents on Westacre and Whiteacre Roads.
The advisory started at 3 p.m. today and will be in effect for at least 48 hours or until further notification.
Water customers in that area may be affected by a planned water shutoff, to isolate the water system for emergency water main repairs today. Preparatory work is under way to minimize the impact to nearly 100 water customers in the area.
As a precaution, customers are advised to boil water intended for consumption for at least one minute. The advisory is being issued as a precaution only. But the 48-hour period it is in effect, or longer if needed, will provide time for testing to determine whether the water is safe to consume.
Stranahan Elementary will remain open during the boil-water advisory, but will have bottled water for students and staff.
