The city of Sylvania will increase its water tap fee from $900 to $1,200.
At the recommendation of Kevin Aller, city service director, council voted to increase the fee at a recent meeting.
Mr. Aller said the tap fee connects mainly new construction homes or businesses to the water main system is a one time fee that has not been increased since 2001. At $900 the city has not been covering its cost of materials, labor, and the cost for new fittings which are required by the Environmental Protection Agency.
