Rib lovers will flock to the Lucas County Fairgrounds this weekend for the 29th annual Northwest Ohio Rib-Off. For four days, grill masters from all over Ohio and other parts of the country will serve ribs and chicken slathered in special sauces and seasonings. The Rib-Off kicks off at 4 p.m. today and runs until 9 p.m.
Tonight's entertainment lineup is headlined by the Marshall Tucker Band. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. VIP tickets are available for $15 and must be purchased in advance. Other event highlights include carnival rides and vendor booths with souvenirs and crafts. Fair-food, such as funnel cakes, hot dogs, and snow cones will also be available. On Friday, Phil Vassar will take the entertainment stage. Fair gates are open from 4 to 10 p.m. Admission is $7 in advance and $10 at the gate. Advance VIP tickets are $20. On Saturday, Ted Nugent will perform. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. VIP tickets are $30. Gates are open from noon to midnight. All of the headlining music acts are expected to take the stage at about 9 p.m. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.
CedarCreek Church provides free admission and entertainment on Sunday, with gates open noon to 7 p.m.
Zoso will perform its Ultimate Led Zeppelin Tribute Experience at the Omni, 2567 W. Bancroft St., Friday at 8 p.m. Zoso began touring in 1999 and has played more than 2,400 shows. Advance tickets are $12 from ticketmaster.com, Culture Clash, and Ramalama Records. Tickets are available at the door for $14. Doors open at 8 p.m.
A memorial concert will be held Sunday at Clam Diggers, 2605 Broadway St., to celebrate the life of long-time Toledo blues aficionado Tom Overley. Plat III Band, Voodoo Libido, the Kirbys, and Band 427 will perform beginning at 4 p.m. A $5 donation will be collected to raise money to fund research into gastrointestinal stroma tumors. Overley died in March.
