Fire guts Detroit Ave. warehouse

Toledo firefighters were battling a blaze Monday night that gutted an abandoned building on North Detroit Avenue at Gramercy Avenue.

The fire broke out in a warehouse that authorities believed formerly housed a heating and air conditioning business across from Modern Automotive, 4801 North Detroit Ave. The fire caused thick, black smoke that could be seen for miles.

Firefighters received the call at about 5:25 p.m. and were still at the scene at about 7 p.m.
